2021 Law Enforcement Torch Run Kick-Off

The Law Enforcement Torch Run Kick-Off took place virtually on March 25th, 2021. Although the atmosphere wasn’t the same as gathering in-person, it was great to have the new LETR council, athlete ambassadors, and staff together.

Highlights included the Flame of Hope Award which was awarded to Chief Melissa Hyatt, Doug Holland received the Distinguished Service Award, as a cherished member of our LETR family, fundraising tips from our lower shore region coordinator, Neshawn Jubilee, and messages from our newly appointed LETR Athlete Ambassadors!

This year’s Officer Adam Pessagno Law Enforcement Torch Run Athlete Ambassador for Special Olympics Maryland Athlete Ambassadors are Elaina Camacho and David Godoy. Elaina flourished in her first year as an athlete ambassador, even with the change to a virtual atmosphere. We are excited to see what else she accomplishes in the role this upcoming year! David will be stepping into a larger leadership role within Special Olympics Maryland, creating awareness and advocacy for the Hispanic community. As ambassadors, they will advocate for other athletes in decisions regarding the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics Maryland, congratulations to you both!
