Do’s and Don’ts

There are some things that you should keep in mind while you are fundraising for the USA Games. On this page, you will find the Do’s and Don’ts of fundraising. Take these into consideration as you proceed with your fundraising.

DO

  • Visit local businesses
  • Share your fundraising page
  • Reach out to family, friends, neighbors, and supporters
  • Post on social media using the #TeamMD
  • Hold a Friendraiser
    • Interested in holding a fundraising event? Email Sue Jacobs, VP of Donor Relations for Special Olympics Maryland, at sjacobs@somd.org and she’ll help you get a “friendraiser” set up!
  • Feel free to reach out to national media or local radio stations in your county

DON’TS

  • Don’t reach out to media outlets in Maryland outside of your local county. Consult with SOMD staff prior to reaching out to any media.
  • Don’t set up any other fundraising pages (like a Facebook fundraising page that is not linked to your Classy funndraising page or GoFundMe page)
  • Don’t forget to share the link to your fundraising page in every post and use the #TeamMD
