Starting Young Athletes early can set children up for success and lead to other opportunities to participate in all other sports and group activities in the future. Future Champions plans take those some basic sports skills and make them more developmentally appropriate to even the youngest athlete.

Future Champion Assessment Tool

An assessment tool has been developed to monitor the impact of the Young Athletes Future Champions Program. After introducing a new skill, the evaluator will demonstrate the skill to the student. Each student will have two trials to attempt the skill. The evaluator will indicate the proper score based on the student’s performance.

Special Olympics Maryland and the Young Athletes Program are unequivocally committed to supporting our Future Champions, our educators, our communities, and our families during these unprecedented times. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to youngathletes@somd.org.
