Since the cancellation of the 2020 Summer Games, our team has been working hard to figure out a way to give all of our athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers the Summer Games experience we have all learned to cherish over the past 50 years. It may not be the same as previous years, but we are SO excited to officially announce that we are throwing you a VIRTUAL BLOCK PARTY! You only need to register on time for the entire Virtual Block Party. Each segment listed on this page will play through the same main Zoom session. DJ Kopec's set will be streamed through Facebook Live and also streamed through our main Zoom link.


LETR & Flame of Hope

Starting at 9:00am on June 6th on Zoom

Our Virtual Block Party kicks off with an LETR & Flame of Hope celebration! Join us and guest speakers LETR Ambassador & SOMD Athlete Leader, Elaina Camacho, and Torch Run Director, Col. Frank Tewey on Zoom starting at 9:00am. We encourage everyone to wear their favorite LETR shirts from the past 34 years.


Health & Wellness

Starting at 9:30am on June 6th on Zoom

It might not be exactly like the swimming, cheerleading, bocce, softball, and track & field competitions that you are used to, but get ready to MOVE during our Health & Wellness segment. Join us for a two-part, 45-minute workout session with guest coaches, Adam Hays (part 1), and Lisa & Tyler Martin (part 2). Remember to bring plenty of water and wear workout clothes!


Food & Nutrition

Starting at 10:30am on June 6th on Zoom

After moving around in our Health & Wellness segment, you'll definitely need a post-workout snack. We have two very special guests for our Food & Nutrition segment: Bj Parker & Alex Hudson from Jimmy's Seafood and Michelle Kwan! Bj & Alex will be showing us how to make Energy Bites and Michelle is going to whip up a Greek Salad. Purchase the ingredients on the lists below to cook along with our chefs!

Opening Ceremonies

A Virtual Block Party would not be complete without Opening Ceremonies, and this year we're going totally virtual. Celebrate 50 years of Special Olympics Maryland with athlete emcee Brandon McLarin, messages from Towson University, and much more! Tune in at 6:00pm on June 6th for our first-ever virtual Opening Ceremonies!


Live Trivia

Starting at 6:30pm on June 6th on Zoom

Test your knowledge of all things Special Olympics Maryland and sports with our Live Trivia segment, hosted by Carmen Houston-Ludlam and Jarrett Northrop! Participate virtually through Zoom and challenge your friends to see who can come out with the highest score! Winners will be announced by DJ Kris Stone at the beginning of his Dance Party set.


70's Dance Party

Grab your bell bottoms, flower crowns, and tie-dye t-shirts for a '70s themed 3 HOUR DANCE PARTY! DJ Kopec will get our party started on Facebook Live from 7:00-8:30pm (will also be streamed through our main Virtual Block Party Zoom link), and then our resident DJ and Athlete Leader, Kris Stone will close out the night on Zoom. Come ready to DANCE!
